im thinking about buildng a cover for the engine bay on my truck. would the best way of doing it be to just lay down foil and fiberglass over it to get the mold? or just make a flat one out of sheet metel?

I would build a mold out of wood on how you would want it and then fiberglass it. I dont see foil working out too well. Remember you need need certin things under the hood to breath.

yeah jonanthin i knew what u was talking about. i have done some fiberglassing here and there. yeah the foil is to just placed down to make a forum of the item ur glassing and use tape to tape off every thing else and the foil togther. then lay ur matt on it and apply ur resin to it to get ur mold. of what u want. and then after its harden pull it out. then pull up all the tape and foil thats still behind then start sanding and applying bondo to get ur finsished product.
