I had a similar problem in my 96 1500. it was when i was in missouri, and i was coming home from the racetrack, and on the interstate i smelled burning rubber inside the cab. I thought nothing of it, until some smoke started getting in the cab. then the smell got worse, and i could see sparks in my rear view. i pulled over and luckily there was a sheriff deputy that just pulled someone over, towed it back to post, and took it to the shop the next day. this was a while ago, im pretty sure the guy said it was the throwout bearing, he said i "hot rodded" it to much....... which i did hahaha. it was a shit truck anyway, some chick had it before me and fucked it up and it was reposessed so i got it cheap

. You should remember the truck Justin, it was the old green one i had back in high school.
anyway, i doubt that will help with anything, but i thought i would share it since it was kinda similar.
