WEll i notched the frame rails for the tie rod ends using a piece of pipe cut in half to make to c shapes then i hammeder them out to spread them a little bit more to make sure i have plenty of clearance. welded them in and threw some mud on them and noticed they are really weak right there at that point now im not 100% satisified with how this turned out. kinda on a stanstill on that part for now. * i can push on them and they move slightly* wondering how im gona fix this delima. Did you notch the tie rods or the frame. I always notch the frame cuz I dont want to weaken a tierod cuz if it breaks your screwed.

i notched the frame rails i used 2 in pipe same thickness of the frame which is like an 1/8........ thought bout either taking a big ass piece of oil pipe my pop has which is like 3/8 thick and 3in round just cut a section out a hammer it around the anvil till it fits in the notch nice and weld it in instead ,or........... make a similar setup like a bolt in notch for the reaer frame rails but made to fit in the tie rod notch and comes along the sides with good ol 1/4 thick steel so it wraps arouns the wound morew and weld that bad boy in just that take a long time to make, so prolly cut the shit out and try thicker pipe.

Well ive always used a 3/16th or maybe a little thicker, and ive used Box Tubing 2x2 or something close...but i not sure where your talking bout a bolt on one, cause not many ways you could do a bolt in like that... but might been cause you used that 1/8th thick... weld in would be the way to go though, and like Bruce said Clean the surface good for a better weld make sure your geting good pentration.... what kind of Welder do you have you running a 220 on aragon?

no itd be like a bolt in notch but id weld it in istead but imve thought bout it and im gona do most likely bigger metal instead , yeah belive me i cleaned the dickens out of it and my welder is plenty fine its just i think i need bigger metal, and yea i think im gona use square tubing instead seems like it be more structrly strong and easier not as goood looking as round but mud it up enough itll look nice.errr i hate doing sh#t twice! heh ill come back to it at the end of the month give me some vacation time from it and go onto my fuel cell

yea it probably just the thickness then, hell its just some tierods man isnt like its somewhere that is exsposed real well that people going to look exactly how nicely you did it.... we did a dually on 22s we took the Drill Steam like what bag cups are made out of cut it in half and welded in the rails and worked great but dually frames are pretty big compared to a dime but its a option you could use too make sure its a 3/16th or bigger though thick...

im not worried about looks as much as dependabilty i mean if it stood on my fram rail right now itd be like a diving board i mean it only be a matter of time before the wieght all on the core sup[port and the bumps make it crack right there and then the steering box would all be a big help in it eventually breaking there , and yes ill run a crossmember on the front to help the frame rails help each other but the end result is still the fear it is gona bite me in my ass a year after driving it. so i gota man up and get my arse out there and cut that shitake out and put some beefier metal in their and pray to god before i weld it in that it works like im planning * man that was long, i could of had it done by the time i typed all of this shitake*

I'd be carefull using square tubing in it. cause it order for it to work you'd have to cut one side off right? not making it square anymore. and taking out almost ALL of it's structural stability.

you'd be better off going with your thicker walled pipe idea. circles and arches are way stronger than squares. just ask bridge builders.

But a square tube even cuting it in half when welded you still have 2 Structural Corners, and Square has 4 Strong points, your only taking 2 of them away and when you Weld it back it strengthens, unlike a Circle cuting it in half it has no Structural points....

either or, i dont think even a big Block 400 motor will have the weight for the Frame to tweak at the tie Rod notch point....

ive actualy Bendt more round bar on anything than i have Sqaure, thats why you have pip benders in Round bar instead of Square, bend a square to fare it breaks...
