my tranny is stuck in 4 gear and dont wont to come out y is it doing this NEED HELP

your syncranizers (howevr you spell that could be out) or your clucth is out, kill it then put it in gear, if you havent allready tried that, very unlikely you need some oil, all else its gone

Syncro's usually keep the shifter from STAYING in a gear though, not usually keeping it in. at least not to my knowledge.
doubt it's fluid cause it shifts to every other gear fine. just when he gets to 4th it stays in, and won't come out like usuall.

I talked to a friend of mine and he said With no balancer on the drive shaft you could of broke something in there causing it to stay in 4th With the balancer gone it would be off balance and prob messed up the trans

ok ever body i got it out of gear today and drove it to my uncles house and i just by pass 4 gear and parked it for now and im getting a daily ride this weekend and after i pay it off im going start working on the dime again

and i called around to see how much it will be to rebuild it will be from $ 800 to $ 1500
