I have an "03 Chevy 1500 reg cab with the 4.3 V6 with around 73,000 miles. I am starting to have problems with my tranny, its not wanting to go into gear. 3rd is the worse. I have the clutch pedal floored yet sometimes I will grind gears or miss them completely. Its also hard to get into first at times sitting still at times. I've had the truck 2.5 years and have only had to put a battery on it. Do I need a new clutch? Or can it be adjusted some how, I know at work on the 18 wheelers there is an adjustment the mechanics can do when this problem occurs but obviously there is a huge difference from a V6 chevy to a 13 speed Mack with Eaton transmission. Anyways, any help or comments would be helpful.

when it is in gear does it pull right off the floor. or is it toward the end of the travel of pedal. if you have a hydraulic clutch there should be a resevoir under hood check it. if that all checks out and you check the fluid like dragginslab said then. i would take it by a trans shop and they could definately tell you if its clutch or trans.
