aight Jeff break it down for me man. I've been thinkin alot about turkey drag and what all we could do to make it a REALY big, nice event for EVERYONE to come to.

But then I have to stop and remind myself. This isn't MY show. it's yours, and if anything we are here to HELP you out, not take over.

so here are my questions.

what are your dreams for turkey drag?
do you want to see it grow into like the new reso?
or just keep it kinda small and quaint.
are you lookin to make fat loot off of it?
or would you rather it be a non profit benefit show of some sort?
and how much do you want OT help out?

I simply ask cause I got a lot of ideas, and slight plan of attack (that's on paper I could even show you) that would help with putting a dent in your Wallet, and HOPING to make the money back to pay for it.

but I know it's your baby, So you call the shots.

Well 1st I want to move it back into november aive already talked to the city of tyler and they said they could change all of my permits to the last week of november. Since I have never been to reso the only show I can compair what I want it to be like is greenville. I want the show to just keep on growing and eventaly make it where the show supports itself and gives alot to charity. With the OT side of it. I need help with judgeing, events, getting the word out, helping me with what ever it may be. I want to be able to say hosted by OT.

ok cool! on a side note I've never been to reso either, But they sure did make a big hubub about it not being around anymore!

so anyway, ok awesome! as far as the show supporting itself, I think there are a few things that need to happen.

#1 sponsorships.
We need to start workin on the show being sponsored enough so that the sponsors pretty much pay for the show. That's the best way for the show to support itself. not even the biggest shows (I doubt) have gotten as big as they have without sponsors mostly piggy backing the cost of the show. The good thing about getting sponsors, is that there are alot of businesses out there that need tax write offs and would be willing to give us tons of cash!! And I think there are plenty in Tyler even to support the show. and I mean plenty for location, advertising, permits, and INSURANCE.
#1.5) on a side note, more people would be willing to give money ESPECIALLY if you're backing a nice charrity, and I have a really good idea for that even!

#2 Creature comforts
food, drink, shelter from heat/cold (this is texas after all), things for kids to do to make it more family friendly, nice toiletry.

#3 Location. location. location.
The nicer the location the more apt it will be to draw people back next year. think the oil palace would be a GREAT place to have it, there's already shelter, two places inside for food services, nice batherooms, enough room out back for camping, maybe some inside spots that you could charge more money for. yeah it's more money to get, but I think it could be made back with very little effort.

I'm still at work, so that's all I got time for now, i'm sure there will be more to come later. but what do you think so far?

jsut to but in lol....i already talked to my boss (reminder i do work at a party rental) we rent out tents. My boss just said if i could get the tents we might need some man power gettin tha things up, cuz if we dont have to pay for it then i would like to round up some guys.

We have porta coolers and fans n shit like that....oh yeah its gonna be cold...lol...we have biggo heaters...the tents have side walls, and we could prolly use a 40x100 size tent

Its jsut a matter of what he will "donate" and what we have to pay for

For the kids...bounce houses...cotton candy...popcorn...n i think something else but cant think of it.

Just to for other ideas

Wow... I would be proud and honored to have the OT name associated with Turkey Drag!

Whatever help you need I am absolutely sure we can help out. Getting the word out and promoting it should be pretty easy.

As far as insurance, I may be able to help with that. We have a person that we have had "sponsor" our shows that also insured it. No money ever exchanged hands and we have a $1M policy. I am waiting to see what he has going on in November since we are talking to him about our show the first weekend.

yeah lacy, I think things like the bounce house, and fans and stuff would be bad ASS! that's definately stuff people would be interested in, and would make the show more comfortable for people to hang out at. The tents would be awesome for the staff to have, for places for trophies, and staging areas and what not. I'm sure we'd have enough people to set it up.

now contests and stuff are an easy things to do. what we need to get done first is make sure we get enough money to do all the stuff that we want.

we need sponsers, and tons of them. and in order to get them we need to be able to let them know their name is going to be seen/heard. which means we need to advertise. which will also in turn make the show much bigger. I mean you guys saw how big it was last year, and that was what? only all internet edvertising? which ment you pretty much had to be IN the scene to find out. I think we could get half of tyler to spend money on intry fee's if we advertised here! not to mention if we threw one or two adds on the radio in Dallas! we'd clean up!

i dought the oil palce is a good place to have a show. yall have seen the HUGE WHOLES they have in the ground. plus 10 grand to rent it out. blah screw that. i dought i even make that much in a year LOL!!!! plus they have alot of dirt out there. means if it does rain its going to suck! and if it dont rain ppl are allways going to be trying to keep there trucks/cars clean from ppl walkin and driving around! How i know i use to ride my dirt bike around that place all the time! since my friend keith use to live right down the road from there.

why cant we just have it at where it was last year? and there should be no need for fans LOL heaters yes?

and have a big canopy with heaters in it to have the bikini contest LOL jk

Derk you're the only one here without the vision man! we're trying to make this GREAT here. not just keep it the same. and you're missing my point anyway! if we get a bunch of sponsors we won't have to pay ten grand because THEY'll be paying it.

and yes I've seen the pot holes, that's why you put the SPECTATOR parking there! DUH!! hahaha! screw the stock cars anyway!

as far as the dirst it won't be that bad anyway, because it's all got grass on it now. it's not just a barren waiste land like it was.

but it's a HUGE venue which means plenty of room for expansion, or on sight camping!

not to mention you heard jeff say we might not be able to use the same place as last year because the bank owns it now because the people who bought it went bankrupt or something. so we have to make other plans.

you're just mad because it's farther for you to drive aren't you ?! hahaha
